if ya catch me at the border I got Visa's in my name [May. 25th, 2009|12:11 pm]

[Current Music |mia]

Its good to be home and busy, And slinging everything from fruit drinks to skin creme.
Na's b day came and went and we have yet to have a formal celebration but a bbq party in the park seems in order.

I feel bad we have lived next to the park for almost a year now and have never taken advantage of the bbq possibilities.
Maybe its all the lugging of shit out tot he park and finding a grill and commandeering it and holding the spot all day.

But what got us going was this smoked bbq we had about a week ago. they smoke all their meat for like 15hrs, The smoker has not shut down since it started 10 yrs ago. ( they say but I imagine it has shut down once or twice for cleaning or maintence... ) but it was some damn good eatin' and falling off da bone kinda meat.

got to get that going when we have a yard...

islam advertising [Mar. 5th, 2009|06:52 pm]
Today just got the car back and its runing tip top. But left a significant hole in my wallet. Well it will be running strong and trustworthy for a few more years so Thats good.

And on my way home I was sitting behind a bus with a billboard advertising Islam.

Now I have no problems with religion, and no discrimination but when its in your face on a billboard, and they have to advertise thats what bothers me. And on a city Bus in San Francisco!

Argh.

tomorrow off to Miami, first time in fla and will have a little time to ourselves during the day so hopefully we have some time to get to the beach..

a little culture up in here. [Mar. 1st, 2009|02:04 pm]
[Current Location |home in SF]

this week its been raining alot in SF and we decided to get all dressed up and head out to the ballet.
it was a first for both of us and a nice little slice of culture that we usually dont bother with.
it was good to go out on the town all dressed up and even tuck into a taco shop to grab a quick bite before the show. the taco shop guys looked like we had walked into the wrong place when we wandered in.

I also have been playing with a stereo scopic lens on the nikon, its something we are trying to adapt for use on the Red, would be great to shoot stereo video. and I think it wont be long till we work out the kinks, next is to shoot HDR video.

flying away [Feb. 3rd, 2009|09:26 am]
[Current Location |dallas Tx.]

Flew out to dallas sunday. didnt even leave the airport, the hotel is in the terminal, funny liek that movie but at least we had real beds.
well our shoot was in the hotel so It was nice to wake up roll downstairs and begin the day. But after work sucked.
So we rented a car and drove to downtown. Scarfed some good Tex Mex food, Not much better than Sf Mex but just being here makes it good right?
Then on the recomendation of our gaffer we found a nice little jazz bar.
no cover, no name band, just jamming nice little hole in the wall, and good music.
Played chess, drank beer and watched Cliff Get schooled by some local while he blew smoke in our face.
( funny how you dont realize how nice it is that people cant smoke in bars in Ca)

Today after giving our bellhop some shit, we are off to Charlotte and then off to Nyc.
looking fwd to some good food, and a nice breakfast sandwich.
Hope we get some time, so I can hike out to Li, otherwise might ust fly in work sleep and get out.

another chilly night in Sf [Jan. 1st, 2009|10:25 pm]
Thanks Darrell for throwin a nice little shindig last night. Its funny that not even Daniel Lee had a plan for last night. I guess people were just not as exicted this year. Maybe it was the election that everyone got out their uplift mofo party plan.

But Thanks to some last minute plans and a bucket or chicken wings we had a lice little get together and a nice fore to boot!

Tis the season for charity work and and the last short is comming along great. Still everyone that sees it kinda scratches their head and wonders, But they all agree that it looks great and was a fun piece. once its finalized it will be posted for all to see.
And After a little Ny trip nxt week we have another feel good piece to do.
I have good feelings about this year and the work will get better and take us places.

bust'd back and indoor fireworks [Dec. 15th, 2008|11:54 am]
[Current Music |paper planes]

fireworks

From last shoot, Darrell had the words but here are the pictures.
it was all fun till the carpet caught on fire.
But good to have a great team and great support

foods

mmm hungry. But by the time we were done with this table a plenty it was pretty disgusting. I think it was the catfish that pushed it over the top. or maybe the octopus.

Anyway these are two screen shots uncompressed and they look pretty good So I imagine when its colored and tweaked its gonna look great.

So other than that finally got my Mri. And the diagnosis is that I hemmoraged a disc in my back. yeah great, Anyway Im trying to take it easy this december and may have to hang the snowboard this year to help heal. Well so far the snow has not been that good so I dont feel Im missing too much. Then if we get some amazing snow storm in January or Feb I might be kicking myself but we will see.

Oh and the Whole IRS thing.
walked out paying the Man, $350 cash.
Not too bad I was thinking it was going to be 4 or 5 digits but $350 I can handle that.
I must have got lucky. maybe it was the news the day before about the back..

Oh And saw Slumdog millionaire. Great movie, dont think Im going to Mumbai any time soon.

the Angry man gets what he wants [Nov. 23rd, 2008|10:12 pm]
Went to Sprint today. as usual I knew it was not going to be easy. ( it never is)
We bought Z a new Phone about a month ago. and it was the day it came out, all fancy and shiny new and shit. Well it was so fancy that they didnt work out all the bugs and with it having 2 operating systems it was just confusing and annoying.
So we went to trade it on for a trusty blackberry. and we had 30 days with which to return the phone if we didnt like it. it was day 28.

We bougt the original fone in Sf Store and this time we were in Oakland and I just wanted to trade it in before the time ran out. so we asked and they gave us a hard time about not being the store it was bought in and that we didnt have the recipt.

So i asked if he could look it up in the computer in front of him seeing that it was a chain store and all. All I got was more bull shit about how he could not get ir cause it was a different store and all. and i was not having it.

I told him it was california Law to have a record of purchase on file for 30 days and if he didnt have access to it I could take the store to court. Once that bomb was dropped he quickly walked to the back of the store to "consult with a mgr" and promptly came out with our new phone.
I apologized for being the asshole customer and when it was all said and done I slipped him $10 I dont think they ever get tips there and he never saw that comming but I saw he was happy when we left and we were too.

I hate to be the asshome but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Away with October and in with Rain. Its good to see the rain again. its nice to be sunny all the time but everyonce in a while its great to have a rainy day, to sit inside and chill out and not feel bad about not going out to sieze another beautiful day.
Thus was the case in Hawaii, it would rain every day but only in the evening. they kind of have it perfect there, almost too perfect...

Anyway it was a great month, with a nice trip in the beginning and rounding out with a nice week and a half in the end to keep my wheels of commerce turning.

We were a little nervous about leaving for a week and leaving the twins with friends. and then about a week into it we wondered if they would remember us. But sure they did and they were happy to see us, so happy they had to pee on the bed!

118db [Oct. 5th, 2008|09:03 pm]
[Current Location |sf ca.]
[Current Music |paper planes.. MIA]

So a full sunday. spent at the shop working on the car and finishing up the everlong kitchen table project.

So after a few too many people cutting me off and me just not wanting to waste the gas to do the same back i looked into other alternatives. and what I found was a Freeway use only horn. It says that a train horn is 120db, well this horn or horns are 118db.

I imagined it would be scary loud and after wiring them up and installing relay,s and such. I am happy bit a little dissappointed in their loudness. Maybe I was just expecting too much but they are not make you deaf loud but they are very loud and sharp.

And then part two on the car was the New gauge cluster. Its a very minute detail but my cluster has the speedo in the middle and the tach on the side where the STI cluster has the tach in the middle with a shift light and the speedo on the left. so I found one on Craigslist, and even though it was in sacramento it was only $100 so I asked if we could meet in the middle ( fairfeild) and it was a deal.

After I installed it i failed to notice that the cluster is in Km. only. Hm well I dont really care what the speed is but now all my calculations will be off for maintence. or i will just have to get a euro maintence schedule...

anyway here is some of the job I did last week. another French commercial, but this was possibly the biggest to date.
We had to light 7 sets all for one shot where the camera is on a techno Crane. ( its a crane for the camera that plays Drum and bass while it moves...
